William Henry Knives

William Henry is a studio devoted to designing and building the finest knives in the world. The name is derived from the middle names of the founding partners, Matt William Conable and Michael Henry Honack. Matt and Michael co-own William Henry Knives. A crew of amazing craftspeople does all of the finish and assembly work in McMinnville, Oregon with all blade grinding being done by master blade grinder Kikuo Matsuda in Japan. Each piece will take over 7 months to produce, involve over 30 artisans and approximately 800 individual operations. Every surface, both inside and out, on each William Henry knife has been completely finished by master craftspeople in our studio.

This finish work allows us to create different textures and finishes with seamless fit between the various components. Our mechanisms are measured accurate to 0.0005" - or about 1/12 the width of a human hair. To make a precision folding knife which has a mechanism that is both smooth and strong requires these tolerances. Every knife, when finished, is a custom piece.

William Henry Pocket Knife Collection:

Pikatti Series

Pikatti is an Eskimo word that means companion – each of these pocket knives is intended to serve as a faithful tool to help with the tasks of every day life. This design is conceived and crafted as functional jewelry; a rugged one-hand button lock mechanism, superlative blade steels, and exquisite handle materials are integrated in a seamless array of color, texture and pattern. Each Pikatti is compact and lightweight for daily carry in the pocket or purse, but robust enough for a lifetime of daily use.

Monarch Series

The Monarch is a simple design that is easy on the eye and effortless in the hand – practical, comfortable, and stunning in an array of color and texture that could only come from the William Henry Studio. The Monarch likes to dress in style, and has received multiple awards in the ‘investor/collector’ category of fine cutlery.

Kestrel Series

The Kestrel is a compact but versatile folder that that works and presents beautifully in any environment. The design, which offers a deep finger groove at the intersection between the handle and blade, makes this knife remarkably comfortable in the hand while being very small and easy to carry as a daily tool.

Lancet Series

We employ three basic architectures for handles on our pocket knives, and all are featured in the Kestrel Collection. Each handle is machined from a single piece of metal (with overlays or inlays of organic material in most cases), so there are no seams or joints that could weaken over time.

Persian Series

Dramatic lines, graceful curves, and exquisite materials all find harmony in this new pattern from William Henry. The Persian is a return to an early pattern (also called the Persian) that featured a different locking system and much less sculpture in the design – the original was retired in year 2000, and many enthusiasts and aficionados have been pining for it since then. Re-designed from the ground up, keeping only the dramatic upswept curve of the blade, the B11 Persian is a bold interpretation of a timeless icon of cutlery.

Spearpoint Series

A remarkable design that traces back to the first months of William Henry, the Spearpoint gives you a full-size secure grip, with a versatile deep-belly blade, in a package that is small enough to carry on a daily basis. Equally loved for its utility and its robust style, this design epitomizes William Henry’s core philosophy – that superlative function deserves to be elevated to superlative art.

GenTac Series

An exceptional design that offers rigorous performance in a sleek, comfortable knife. The GenTac takes its name from gentleman’s tactical – the evolution of a design to incorporate the functionality of a ‘hard-use’ tool while retaining the soul of a gent’s knife. Winner of multiple industry awards, this piece defines a turning point in cutlery design – a near perfect synthesis of the old and the new.
